Finding what we need, of quality and at a good price, is always exciting. That product that we have consciously looked for, of which we know the qualities and alternatives and that, finally, we find as imagined. Or cheaper and all. We won’t always be lucky enough to find bargains on everything we buy, but purchasing useful and necessary items brings us closer to conscious consumption and away from wasting money and resources. After all, the more times it is used and the more service it does, the cheaper a purchase will be. The fourth Friday of November, which this year falls on the 29th, is celebrated everywhere as Black Friday . But this day of offers is just one more in a period of promotions that is increasingly extended in the calendar and ends during a handful of months: from the middle of October, when the first ones start to appear pre- Black Friday posters, until February with the second and third sales. The offers, of course, often take a break in the days immediately before the Christmas holidays. In any case, in the face of this suspicious price dance, let’s keep calm! Periods of “exclusive discounts”, sales and promotions can encourage irresponsible consumption and purchase products that we do not need or in too large quantities. In the worst cases, it will be items that will be left in a cupboard still with the label or food that we will have to throw away because it will have gone bad. Money that, however cheap the purchase may have been, will have been wasted.
Offers from home
The growing habit of making purchases on the Internet brings other problems that we do not see in stores or are less common. Buying based on clicks requires practically no effort and seems to be more profitable: low prices, free shipping costs from X euros of purchase, etc. It is advisable not to be dazzled by these facilities and to think carefully about what is bought, why and—importantly!—to whom, in order to avoid scams and provide personal information for fraudulent use. Another aspect that gets out of control when the purchase is sent to our home is that it often comes packed with a disproportionate amount of materials (plastic films, foam, cardboard) that will not do us any service and that, even if we dispose of them in the correct container , they will cost to recycle.
